Our History…
The Brethren Church began in Germany in 1708 as a small group bible study. Being dissatisfied with the established church of the time, a group of Brethren came to America, settling first in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1719. The Brethren were rural people, sharing the good news of Christ with the early Pennsylvania kitchen being the center of its witness and service.
Over the last 2 centuries the Brethren Church has seen great change with the establishment of churches throughout the United States and missions around the world. The Brethren Headquarters is located in Ashland, Ohio.
Our church…
The Cheyenne Brethren Church was established in 1944 by a group of Brethren who had moved to the area and held a common desire to have a Brethren Church in their community. We continued to promote the ideals of the Brethren Church through the centrality of the Bible, the ministry priority of all believers, and a commitment to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
Today, 78 years later, our church has become transformed and transformational. The church is filled with families of all ages, centering on discipleship through small group Bible studies, child and youth ministries and other gatherings. The purpose of each ministry is helping our congregation be a bridge to new life in the community, nation, and world.
The Discipleship process, stresses the importance of not merely understanding the Christian life, but actually encourages living it out. We are active in our community through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, and other outreach activities in the Cheyenne area.
Additionally, our congregation is very involved with Operation Christmas Child, one of the outreach ministries of Samaritan’s Purse. In 2021 our church assembled 1,104 shoeboxes to be shipped overseas for ministry.
Mission
