Senior Lead Pastor
Rev. Dr. G. Emery & Sue Hurd
Rev. Dr. G. Emery Hurd is our Lead Pastor and an ordained elder in the Brethren Church. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Family Services, and Master’s degrees in Divinity and Psychology. He also holds a Doctor of Ministries degree, with special certification in Transformational Leadership.
Dr, Hurd has served in the Brethren Church in many capacities, serving as a member of the Executive Board, and as the National Moderator for the Brethren Church from 2012 to 2018. He currently serves as chairman of the national Polity Committee, Chairman of the National Board of church and elder Oversight and teaches Brethren Polity for the denomination and serves as a trustee for Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. He has also served in numerous district and regional offices.
Locally, he helped found the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department Chaplain Corps, served with the Cheyenne Police Dept. chaplains corps for many years, was a founding member of the Laramie County Community Corrections Board, and participates in several local charities.
Dr. Hurd and his wife Susan have been in ministry at the Cheyenne Brethren Church for 39 years.
Dr. Hurd and his wife Susan have been married for 43 years, they are the proud parents of two grown married daughters and have four grandchildren.
Church Moderator
Chris Heater
Chris is the Moderator of the church and serves as coordinator of the Ministry Council. He supervise with the Lead Pastor all ministries of the church. Chris has supervisor skills acquired from previous employment at the Denver International Airport in Colorado and currently works as a Beverage Sales Representative in Cheyenne. Chris is married to Ashley, and the two of them assist in leading our weekly Wednesday night youth group BYIC.
Worship Team Coordinators
Shaun & Tiffany Jones
Shaun and Tiffany co-lead our worship team and lead the congregation in praise on Sunday Mornings. Tiffany holds degrees in music and special education while Shaun holds degrees and certifications in business. Both Shaun and Tiffany are gifted musicians and play multiple instruments. They are the proud parents of their two sons Gale & Asher.
Audio/Video Coordinator
Elise Macy
Elise coordinates our church Audio/Video Team. She recruits volunteers, trains, provides a rotation schedule and ensures there is quality audio and video for our Sunday Morning Worship Service. Elise enjoys using her gifts and she is always looking for volunteers to serve on our AV Team, if you’re interested, please contact her!
Children’s Church Coordinator
Kaylyn Gess
Kaylyn coordinates our Children’s Church program. She loves being around children and is employed by Laramie County School District #1 as a bus assistant. Kaylyn recruits volunteers and makes a rotation list to ensure Children’s Church is provided during our Morning Worship service. Children begin the service worshiping in song with their parents and then are dismissed to go downstairs into the Fellowship Hall to enjoy age appropriate Bible lessons, crafts, games, and snacks.
